Dear customers,

As we approach the end of 2023, we would like to take this opportunity to send you our warmest Christmas greetings.

The year 2023 has been a year of change and innovation for industries in the CASE sector. As we close out the year, we look forward to another year of collaboration and growth together in 2024, confident that our partnership will continue to help transform the market and set new standards.

With this in mind, we wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a great start to the New Year.

STOCKMEIER

STOCKMEIER Chemie: On the way to a sustainable future together

As the STOCKMEIER Group, we are aware of our responsibility towards the environment and future generations. Our efforts towards sustainability are deeply rooted in our corporate culture and are reflected in various aspects of our business operations. For us, sustainability is not a trend, but a step towards a secure future.

We focus on the development and manufacture of environmentally friendly products and solutions. This includes reducing harmful emissions and using renewable resources to minimise the environmental impact of our products.

To this end, we invest in state-of-the-art technologies to reduce energy consumption and utilise resources more efficiently. This not only leads to cost savings, but also to a reduction in our ecological footprint.

We also work closely with our suppliers to ensure that they also follow sustainable practices. This promotes sustainability along the entire value chain.

For example, STOCKMEIER Chemie is part of the EcoVadis programme, in which suppliers are assessed in terms of sustainability at holding company level. We were recently awarded the silver medal. In addition to the gold medal, we have also set ourselves the goal of becoming CO2-neutral.

Our commitment to sustainability goes hand in hand with our business success. We are convinced that acting sustainably not only protects the environment, but also offers long-term benefits for our company and our customers. We see sustainability not only as an obligation, but also as an opportunity to create innovative solutions for the future we all want to live in.

BRB

BRB Siloen® SR 833

BRB is a supplier partner that specialises in high-quality, innovative products and reliable deliveries. With many years of co-operation in the industry and a focus on customer satisfaction, BRB is one of our most important partners.

Siloen® SR 833 is a 100% active methyl alkoxy silicone resin. However, it can be diluted with various solvents (e.g. aromatics, esters and ketones). As a binder in silicone resin coatings, Siloen® SR 833 can withstand temperatures of up to 600 °C and thus forms the basis for high-temperature coatings.

High-temperature coatings are used in a wide variety of areas, e.g. for the exterior coating of frying pans, stoves or vehicle exhaust systems. It is important that the pigments and fillers used are also suitable for the temperature range. Aluminium pigments provide the highest heat resistance, black iron oxide pigment is stable up to approx. 500 °C. If good corrosion protection is also required, zinc dust can also be used.

Cross-linking takes place with atmospheric humidity through polycondensation and is initiated by catalysts, e.g. titanium tetrabutanoate. The reaction itself only requires room temperature, which makes it easy to process, and is completed after a few minutes. Accordingly, the catalyst should only be added shortly beforehand; when used as a 1K coating, care must be taken to ensure that it is free of water. The recommended dry film thickness is a maximum of 25 μm and results in a coating with very low smoke and odour development, but high hardness.

Vinavil

CRILAT BIO D117 AF

The first bio-based polymer dispersion from Vinavil for aqueous formulation of colours.

Our Italian supplier partner Vinavil is committed to improving sustainability through numerous environmental, social and economic initiatives. Vinavil's research and development department is increasingly dedicated to sustainable and bio-based products by minimising the use of hazardous substances, making production processes more efficient, recycling waste materials and introducing new raw materials from renewable sources.

The availability of bio-based monomers as an alternative to fossil-based materials is probably the most important and biggest challenge for all polymer manufacturers aiming for a high proportion of renewable raw materials. With CRILAT BIO D117 AF, Vinavil's first polymer dispersion with bio-based raw materials is now available. The pure acrylic dispersion contains 29% bio-based raw materials. CRILAT BIO D117 AF is also free from solvents, ammonia and formaldehyde.

CRILAT BIO D117 AF is used particularly in decorative interior paints due to its good rheological behaviour. Thanks to its alkali resistance and strong colour fastness, it gives the formulations good weather resistance. All these properties make CRILAT BIO D117 AF a very versatile polymer dispersion for the formulation of sustainable interior and exterior paints.

Apri-Skin 623

Apri-Skin 623 - highly effective skin prevention agent

Apri-Skin 623 is a highly effective skin inhibitor for oxidative drying coatings and printing inks and offers a safe and proven alternative to MEKO. It has been developed to optimise the performance of alkyd-based paint systems by preventing the formation of a surface skin when the product comes into contact with atmospheric oxygen. This in turn improves coating performance and reduces waste.

Apri-Skin 623 gives you the following benefits:

  1. improves the storage stability of solvent-based, oxidatively cured coating systems, printing inks and pigment pastes by preventing skin formation on the surface of the coating
  2. controls surface drying delay and keeps the film open longer to ensure deeper penetration of oxygen into the lower paint layers, which promotes through-drying and improves flow properties
  3. MEKO-free, thus lower toxicity
  4. no skin sensitisation
  5. enables flexible dosing similar to MEKO, resulting in low development and operating costs
  6. no costly reformulations or extensive research and development work as Apri-Skin 623 can be used in a similar way to MEKO

5 questions to ...

Manfred Halbach

We would like to thank him for the great cooperation and wish him all the best for his retirement!

On behalf of the entire STOCKMEIER Group, we would like to express our sincere thanks for the many years of co-operation with Manfred Halbach! We will miss the daily contact with him very much, both the content-related and the private exchange gave us all a lot of pleasure! We wish him all the best for the next stage of his life! To reflect on his time at STOCKMEIER, we asked him a few questions at the end:

1. What were your first impressions when you started at STOCKMEIER?

I was welcomed openly and warmly by the whole team. Communication with each other was clear and results-orientated.

2. Can you tell us about a particular challenge that you overcame during your time here?

That was certainly the time during the corona crisis - the total shortage of all relevant raw materials for our industry. Open communication and reliability helped us to make progress with our customers. Nevertheless, it should be noted that I had never experienced anything like that in around 30 years of working in technical sales.

3. What professional milestones or successes do you particularly remember?

The extraordinarily good cooperation with the entire team, especially sales management, product management and internal sales, was essential to my success. I can't thank them enough for that.

4. What advice do you have for the colleagues who will follow in your footsteps?

Honesty, transparency and, of course, the necessary willingness to put in the effort that is essential for a successful sales job. But I can also say that my successors have these tools and also live them. I have already experienced this on my farewell tours with my colleagues.

5. How do you plan to organise your retirement?

As you know, I will be looking after the German market for Vinavil products in the adhesives sector for some time to come. Apart from that, my wife and I have enough to do with the house and the dog, so it won't be boring.
